A NOTE ON STAKES
Great sci-fi has conflict. It has villains, obstacles, and real cost. We're not asking for utopian fantasies with no tension—we're asking for stories where humanity earns the future through struggle, ingenuity, and courage.
The difference between what we're looking for and standard dystopia isn't the absence of darkness. It's the presence of hope. Your world can have problems. Your characters should face real danger. But the underlying message should be: we figured it out. Or at least: we can.
